Experience the awesome Cherokee side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! See both parts. episodes 5 and 6, Season 2.  In Part 1, watch the elk gather in the North Carolina Smokies. Walk your dog on one of the few trails where dogs are allowed: The Oconaluftee River Trail. Be sure to take in valuable cultural experiences in Cherokee. Learn about Cherokee culture, skills, and crafts in the Oconaluftee Indian Village, which is next to a fantastic theater, where you can see "Unto These Hills," which is in its 75th year of production, as of 2025. You can see native American dance styles both in the village and at the show. Two states share the Great Smoky Mountains National Park: North Carolina and Tennessee. We camped on the North Carolina side because it's less crowded and represents Cherokee culture. Of course, we drove to the Tennessee side, but North Carolina was our home base.
